Rainbow Snippets - 2/3 July

Rainbow Snippets is a Facebook Group that invites authors to post 6 sentences of their work each weekend. It can be from anything you like, your current WIP, a recent release, the golden oldie that even you had forgotten you had written, or just a scrap of an idea (as long as it has 6 coherent sentences). Nothing of your own work worth mentioning? How about a 6 sentence review of your favourite LGBTQ+ story.

Well, looks like this will be the last snippet from Resistance. Release date is almost upon us. Available now for pre-order at Amazon, Resistance will be on sale at Amazon and to borrow on Kindle Unlimited from 5th July. Universal Amazon link: myBook.to/Resistance_LF

Let's catch up with the boys at the beginning of Chapter Six. Well, just Mal in this snippet, and his colleague and best friend.

“Are you sure that’s wise?” Georgie cradled her mug and let the steam shroud her face. Her normally tidy ponytail seemed skewed, and several strands of blonde hair had escaped their bindings and hung around her face, dangling precariously close to her coffee.

Mal shrugged and glanced down into the murky, brown depths of his own cup of instant. Small clumps of powdered creamer clung to the walls of the mug. He grimaced at the reminder that someone had used the last of the milk and not bothered to replace it. What he’d give for a frothy cappuccino from the coffee shop in the village right about now.

  1. Sets the scene nicely, and very visual. Although I don't drink coffee I can relate to the thought of creamer over milk.

  2. Ew, instant coffee and powdered creamer...yuck! I feel bad for him.

  3. I love how you can bring to life something as 'simple' as a cup of coffee with your descriptions. It's like I can look down and that cup of coffee is sitting there. Sounds like Mal is pining for a bit of Slopy Bottom, eh? :)

I think I'm one of the very few people who like powered creamer. But it's only 1 or 2 brands. I think it's because that's what my parents used when I was growing up.

Less than two days!!! YAY! BTW, is Resistance going to be on ARe on the 5th too?

    1. Thanks *grins*.
Yeah us too which is probably why I don't like it.
Sorry. I'm trying an experiment with this one. I'm making it available on Kindle Unlimited to see if that boosts sales. That means I can't sell anywhere else but Amazon for 90 days. Sorry but I need to sell as many copies as possible if I'm going to be able to publish the other 5 (?) books in the series. :/

    2. I hope the Kindle Unlimited works for your sales. I usually prefer ARe for my books, but I've been buying more on Kindle lately since I actually bought a Kindle and not just having my Android tablet.

For you, though... I'll buy anywhere. So add one more preorder to your tally. :D <3

  4. Such a rich snippet. I can feel the weather and everything.

Also, there's nothing wrong with instant coffee and powdered creamer, but Mal, stir it a bit more, mate. ;)

  5. Not a coffee drinker (and don't usually put milk in my tea) but I can still feel for him.
